Four MSU students charged with detonating and possession of explosive devices
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Four Michigan State University students were arrested on felony explosive charges after a traffic stop at Wilson and Birch roads shortly after midnight Nov. 2, according to the MSU Police.
MSU Police assisted East Lansing Police by performing a traffic stop in the Holden Hall service area parking lot on a vehicle suspected of involvement in the detonation of an explosive device. Prior to the traffic stop, East Lansing Police responded to a call about an explosion in the 400 block of Grove Street.
A subsequent investigation between both police departments resulted in the arrest of four MSU students: Olivia M. Hudson, 18, Okemos; Darby D. Dudley, 18, Mason; Sasha N. Savage, 18, Okemos; and Nikolai E. Wasielewski, 18, Rossford, Ohio.
Each was charged with placing explosives and causing property damage, and possession of bombs with unlawful intent – causing property damage. Both charges are felonies with potential penalties of 20 years in prison and/or $15,000 each. Additional explosive devices discovered in the vehicle were destroyed by the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad.
All suspects were arraigned on Nov. 2, before East Lansing 54-B District Court Judge Richard Ball. All suspects were released after posting bond.
